DU0DM was an annual field day project of the members of the Philippine Amateur Radio Association, Inc. (Founded in 1932). Usually held on Memorial Day (May 30, which is not a holiday in the Philippines) at the Corregidor Island Rest House, situated near Malinta Tunnel on the “neck” of the tadpole shaped island. Several club members bring a variety of radios, antennas, and other equipment for the two or three day affair. “DM” stands for Douglas MacArthur, Corregidor is a small 7.82 square kilometers, mountainous, situated at the mouth of Manila Bay. On occasion the annual event has taken place at the Mt. Samat Memorial, situated on top of Mt. Samat, Bataan, overlooking the West Philippine Sea and Manila Bay, set up to commemorate the heroic Filipino and American defenders of Bataan and Corregidor.
