GB4QBP is a special event station for the Girl Guides 'Thinking Day on the Air.' TDOTA.The station will be on air on Saturday 17th February as it is always the weekend prior to Thinking Day itself.
TDOTA is an opportunity for the members of Girlguiding from the youngest Rainbow to the oldest Trefoil Guild member to talk to other members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts all over the world via Amateur Radio.
The 22nd February is Thinking Day because it was the birthday of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout and Guide movements, and his wife Olave, who was the first World Chief Guide.
On this day each year members of WAGGGS (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts) remember the founders of the movement and take part in various activities to think about their sisters throughout the world.
The 'QBP' is for Quedgley Brownie Pack which is the primary reason the station is on air but may well include other Brownies from other packs in Gloucester.
The station is operated by members of Gloucester Amateur Radio & Electronics Society. G4AYM.
The station will operate on VHF for local contacts and on HF for International and UK contacts.
If you contact the station you may well be able to exchange a few words with one of the Brownies and enable them to obtain their communication badge!
Our thanks go to all stations who manage a contact with us.
