TM6WPD is a special call sign for the 6th World Polio Day (October 24 this year) to create an awareness that Poliomyelitis (short Polio) is not totally eradicated in the world. Rotary does not stop immunization until Polio will be eradicated at all.
Our purpose: zero POLIO all over the world.
I'll be active with this special call from 10-24-2018 till 10-31-2018 (including the CQWWDX Contest). I would be very pleased to have contact with many stations to promote this cause. So try to help us and the End Polio Now! activity.
With this activity we seek to remember Paul P. Harris and the early founders of Rotary International (02-23-1905).
Rotary International is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. It is a secular organization open to all persons regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, or political preference.
There are more than 35,000 clubs and over 1.2 million members worldwide. The members of Rotary Clubs are known as Rotarians. Members usually meet weekly for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, which is a social event as well as an opportunity to organize work on their service goals.
Rotary's primary motto is "Service Above Self"; its secondary motto is, "One profits most who serves best."
