TM82ALC, 290th anniversary of the passing away of Antoine de Lamothe-Cadillac

Greetings!

This message is to inform you of our upcoming special event activation. Would you please forward this information to your readers and to your members? Many thanks!

---------

A special French call sign TM82ALC, will be activated by a group of 12 amateur radio operators located in the Department of the Tarn et Garonne, France. This special call sign will be used to commemorate the 290th anniversary of the passing away of Antoine de Lamothe-Cadillac (5 March 1658 – 16 October 1730), founder of the city of Detroit, Michigan U.S.A. In 1701 he went on to become the Governor of the state of Louisiana. Two centuries later Detroit celebrated their bicentennial commemoration with much enthusiasm. The very young Detroit Automobile Company was renamed the Cadillac Automobile Company. The coat of arms of Lamothe-Cadillac was adopted and used as the emblem for their new cars.

We are particularly pleased to be able to honor Antoine de Lamothe-Cadillac because he was born right here in the Tarn et Garonne!
