80 years ago, from October 23, 1937 to January 14, 1940, a scientific polar station operated in the Arctic Ocean from the icebreaker "Georgiy Sedov". The ship, frozen in the ice in the eastern sector of the Arctic (Laptev Sea), drifted near the North Pole and went out to the open water of the Atlantic Ocean to the northwest of the Spitsbergen archipelago.
