VI70MDRC, 70th years MOORABBIN & DISTRICT RADIO CLUB INC



The Moorabbin and District Radio Club (MDRC) is celebrating it 70th year and is one of the oldest ham radio clubs in Victoria, founded in 1948.


To commemorate this occasion the members will be activating the special callsign VI70MDRC.


Operation will be from Dec 1st 2018 until Feburary 28th 2019 and will either be from the MDRC clubrooms or from individual members home QTH.


Modes: SSB, CW, RTTY, FT8


Bands: All bands 160m -23cm


The MDRC is situated at the Combined Club Rooms at Turner Road Reserve in Highett Victoria, it has a well appointed Radio Shack for use when the clubrooms are open.


Radio gear available for use covers 160m to 70cm and we have a HB35C HF tribander on top of a 13.8m nally tower.


Club Callsign is VK3APC


MDRC has one of the best kept secrets....The magnificent "Radio Museum" with an assortment of old radio type exhibits.


The Annual Hamfest held by the MDRC around May in Mulgrave Vic. (usually the Saturday prior to Mothers day) is renownd as the Biggest and Best Hamfest in Victoria (VK3), comprising of Commercial Traders, Radio and Electronic displays and many tables of "Traders" wares of used radio and electronics gear.....


Club meetings: at the Clubrooms


2nd Friday evening of the month at 8pm for the General meeting and usually with a guest speaker


4th Saturday (10am) for an informal social event


Every Tuesday at 9.30am-10am for the weekly social gathering and chats......
