Here is the History:
Date: August 5, 2010
33 miners were trapped in the "San José" mine
On August 5, 2010, a collapse occurred at the San José mine, Atacama region, in northern Chile, trapping 33 miners at a depth of 720 meters for 69 days.
Rescue work began that same night, but two days later another collapse occurred at the mine, requiring heavy machinery to form a ventilation shaft.
On August 22, the 33 miners were found alive, immediately generating a rescue plan.
After 33 uninterrupted days of excavation, it was announced that the rescue plan for the miners would begin on October 11.
The rescue began on October 13, 2010 at midnight, and it took about an hour to rescue each miner.
